Bad Moon: a Halloween film
I live in a place with effectively two seasons: dry and wet. Halloween represents that seasonal transition, and an excellent opportunity to say goodbye to the sun and hello to the rain. For many years I hosted an illicit haunted forest ride, but after I decided to put away the animatronics and zombie babies, I found myself with a skull-shaped hole in my heart. There’s something really special about adults riding bikes in the dark forest surrounded by scary things, candy, and friends - and I love facilitating joy (especially when it involves fake blood). This year I found an excellent and (probably) legal alternative: spending the weekend before Halloween in the forest filming a horror story that has been knocking around in my head for over a year. It may not have the same impact as riding your bike through a forest of creepy doll parts, but I’m hoping that this will reach more people. Also, Charlie and I had a blast making it. I hope it brings you some joy as well - Happy Halloween!
